This is a very basic article that we hope to supplement in the future with a lot information.

Any Calvary Chapel radio program begins with the verse-by-verse teaching of a Calvary Chapel pastor. You will want to make sure that your pastor uses the proper kind of microphone and that your sound board operators know how to process his audio to sound good. We will be adding more information on this topic so please check back from time to time.

Recording should be done on a digital medium as a full WAV file. Tascam CD recorders are really excellent; you can record directly to a CD and make copies after church. That CD can then be transferred to a computer for editing. There are a variety of digital recorders available that will record in WAV format. We will supplement this article with that information in the future.

Some people use computers to do the recording but the audio quality will not be as good and computers are prone to have problems. If your computer freezes in the middle of the pastor’s message you could lose the rest of it. It’s best to stay away from computers for this task.

Once you have a good quality teaching you will need to transfer it to the person who will be doing the editing. Hiring a professional production company will improve the quality of your program immensely and is worth every penny it costs. Alternatively, this step can also be done in house by someone who is skilled in audio production. We will have a list of production companies on the website soon.

You will also need to plan your opening and closing announcements as well as a name for your program, and a musical jingle. You will work with the production company on these details.

Of course one of the most important details is selecting a radio station to carry your program. Perhaps you have a local Calvary Chapel radio station that will air it. That’s a great way to put your pastor’s teaching out there for a large audience to hear. Daily programs that air from Monday to Friday are the best, but some people get started with weekend programs.

If you don’t have a Calvary Chapel station in your area there may be another Christian station that will consider airing your program. Perhaps you have a Christian music station that might be willing to air a program late in the afternoon or early in the evening. Anywhere you can get it in would be a start.

If you don’t have a Christian station in your area you might even consider a secular station, what better place to put the gospel than where the secular folks are listening. Many secular stations carry church programming on Sundays, but see if you can get on more often than that so you have a larger exposure.

Putting your teaching on the airwaves brings the Word of God to many more people than you would reach by just sharing it in church. There is no more investment in time studying or prepping or getting the message ready. The same message already prepared for Sunday can be leveraged to reach many more people for a small additional cost.

Consider bringing the teaching of your church to the radio airwaves. You may be surprised what the Lord can do with that.
